This design is based on a work by Hendrick Avercamp, the first Dutch artist to specialise in winter landscapes, establishing a visual tradition that would define the Golden Age. Avercamp grew up in Kampen. He was born deaf and mute, and his contemporaries called him 'De Stomme van Kampen', the Mute of Kampen. What he could
