This special release marked the first time a Four Roses single barrel bourbon was offered to the public. The origin of the name "Four Roses" was never entirely clear, but legends abound. The most romantic is about Paul Jones Jr., who trademarked the Four Roses brand in 1888. The story goes that Paul fell head over heels in love with a southern beauty.
