The back is open and hallmarked. Approximately 12 mm wide and 17 mm long. The so called Shiva eye shell is actually the protective door of a special type of shellfish called the turban snail, found in tropical seas. At the end of the turban snail's life, the door detaches, revealing the beautiful spiral symbol on the inside, which gives the shell its name, Shiva eye.
