Antique, Victorian Black Silk Cape - 1860s gifts for men No makers' marks - 1960s-1970sThis wonderful piece of history is museum quality. Mid 19th century, American Civil War era lightweight silk cape would have been a mourning garment worn in not so cold weather. It is longer at the front and it has open slits for the arms and is completely hand stitched. It's trimmed all around with a padded piping and the seams are finished with the narrowest of piped edges. The lining is brown. There is no evidence of any closure it probably once
