Antique Italian Baroque Walnut & Engraved Iron Jewelry Strong Box Cassone 1600 Recently Added a bishop and patron saintSOLD A rare antique 17th century Italian Baroque walnut jewelry or strong box, circa 1600. The box made from solid walnut, the substantial box having a locking hinged lid with hand forged iron bolts, the bolts go through the lid and connect to a pair of heavy gauge engraved strap hinges. The box has a hand forged iron carrying handle with gimballed fittings allowing the handle to move. To the front is a hand forged iron flower shaped lock escutcheon
