The painting having one figure walking down the river bank, the painting signed lower right and housed in a gilt and hardwood frame. Jean Michel Cels was a Belgian landscape painter born in the Hague as the son of the painter Cornelis Cels, who taught him to paint. He was the brother of the architect Josse
