Baptisia australis | Blue False Indigo The country dairy of an edwardian lady The classic garden accessoryAlso known as Blue False Indigo is a perennial herb native to central and eastern North America. Baptisia is a large, bush like plant that can grow up to 1 metre tall and has dense clusters of blue purple, pea like flowers that grow in spikes that can be up to 30 cm long. It blooms in summer and prefers full or partial shade and moist soil. The plant develops mostly below ground in its first few years, but the blooms become increasingly showy as the
