The two have similar looking pitchers and grow epiphytically in mid montane forests

It combines the unique growth habit and deep red coloration of Nepenthes ampullaria “William’s Red” with the sinister clawed peristome of Nepenthes hamata
The soil should not be kept too wet and should be allowed to go to just damp in between waterings
