There is great harmony and composure here – certainly not as voluminous or ravishing as the 2009 – but a controlled and very focused Yquem with a slight saltiness coming through toward the finish

-Emilion should be at its best between 2006-2025

though it's very like the '70 in structure

The exceptionally light ruby orange color is surprising given the opacity of most wines from this vintage. A sterile nose reveals vague, earthy, dusty, herb, tea, and cherry aromas. Lean, with frightfully high acidity, this wine is drying out. Out of balance, it will get more attenuated with cellaring. Robert Parker
