Late Victorian Cowrie Shell Ring Size:6.5 His sonnet “On His Blindness”DATE: Late Victorian, c. 1900 Unusual late Victorian ring set with an especially attractive sea shell. I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) it to be a deer spotted cowrie, from the family of marine gastropod mollusks in the family Cypraeidae. It's mounted in 9 karat gold with pear teardrop shaped head and split shoulder shank; dating from the turn of the 20th century.
