Just a short drive from the more famous DOCG's of Barolo and Barbaresco, the Alto Piemonte provides some bombshell Nebbiolo's with age for a more friendly price. The Vallana Gattinara is chalk full of cherries, dried flowers and even a touch of balsamic. Have it with a whole roast chicken and potatoes or sausage and peppers.
