One of the hoops is fitted to striking end of this woodworking chisel to prevent splitting out. This Sorby mortice chisel is ideal for chopping mortices and heavy duty tasks. Heavy duty handle. The Robert Sorby name has been making tools since the early 1800's with the Sorby name having links as cutlers back to the 1600's. The blade is forged from special Sheffield alloy steel.
