Shagreen, characterised by its pebbly texture is traditionally made from the skin of sharks, stingrays, or dogfish. Popular during the 1920's, it was considered a luxury and was used on objects such as this case. Set with a lovely sapphire cabochon "button", the shagreen displays a grey blue colour in contrast.
